THE DREAMER: JOHN LENNON

January 19, 2017 Ritika Dureja

Imagine there's no heaven,

It's easy if you try.

No hell below us,

Above us only sky.

Imagine all the people living for today;

Imagine there's no countries,

It isn't hard to do.

Nothing to kill or die for,

And no religion too.

Imagine all the people living life in peace, you

You may say I'm a dreamer,

But I'm not the only one,

I hope some day you'll join us;

And the world will be as one!

Imagine no possessions,

I wonder if you can,

No need for greed or hunger;

A brotherhood of man,

Imagine all the people sharing all the world, you!

John Lennon

John Winston Ono Lennon was an English singer and songwriter who co-founded the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music.

His first band, the Quarrymen, evolved into the Beatles in 1960. When the group disbanded in 1970, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced albums including John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and songs such as "Give Peace a Chance", "Working Class Hero", and "Imagine".

On December 8, 1980, he was shot dead by a crazed fan named Mark David Chapman. The dreamer died when he was merely 40 years old! Lennon was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

The painting has been made on a black pastel sheet with poster paints. The artwork is a combination of layers of paint in order to provide it the required shade. Outlining has been done with a white pen in the end.
